Group of thirteen mid-19th century cased photographic portraits including two daguerreotypes along with eleven ambrotypes and tintypes. The images are preserved in original hinged cases with gilt mats and velvet interior pads typical of American cased photography of the period.
The portraits depict men, women, and children posed in studio settings. Several examples show siblings or small family groups while others are individual portrait studies. The sitters wear period clothing including dresses with fitted bodices, shawls, jackets, waistcoats, and children’s garments. The cases display a range of embossed velvet pad patterns and decorative gilt mat openings characteristic of mid-nineteenth century presentation.
All photographs remain housed in their original protective cases with intact hinges and interior liners. The lot represents a varied assortment of daguerreotype, ambrotype, and tintype portraits from the 1840s–1860s period.
