Moo-Zoo-Mony, or Rice Gatherer, Chief of the Chippewas, and John Thomas Lane, identified on the mount face as Medicine Man, Chief and Colonel of the Mic-Macs and Discoverer and Proprietor of the Indian Remedy for the Cure and Prevention of Smallpox, stand together in full regalia in this albumen advertising carte-de-visite, the reverse carrying a complete printed product listing for Lane's patent medicine business headquartered at 88 Cedar Street, New York. The card belongs to the same genre of Native-endorsed patent medicine promotion as the Donald McKay Ka-ton-Ka card in this sale, using the authority of an identified Native leader alongside a white proprietor dressed in borrowed regalia to market remedies to a credulous public.

Moo-Zoo-Mony at left wears traditional Chippewa dress including a feathered headdress, long braids, a beaded chest piece with a large medallion, a blanket wrap, and moccasins, holding what appears to be a pipe or staff. Lane at right wears an elaborate embroidered dark coat with fur trim, beaded leggings, and a tall feathered cap, his full beard and confident stance presenting him as a quasi-tribal authority figure despite his clearly European appearance.

The reverse lists Lane's full product line: the Indian Remedy for Small Pox and skin diseases, Lane's Indian Liniment and Panacea for Rheumatism, Neuralgia and Putrid Sore Throat, and the celebrated Mic-Mac Pills for Stomach and Blood Diseases, all described as manufactured from Indian Roots and perfectly harmless. The principal depot is given as 88 Cedar St., New York.
