Howard's Photo Gallery documents its own block in this self-published albumen cabinet card, the front mount lettered in ornate gold script identifying the studio as Howard's, opposite the Court House, Clearfield, Pennsylvania. The elevated vantage point, likely shot from an upper window across the street, captures a full commercial block in sharp detail and places Howard's own second-floor gallery signage prominently at upper left. The style of dress on the street figures and the commercial signage are consistent with the mid to late 1880s.

The block contains at least four identifiable businesses across its ground and upper floors. At far left, M.G. Rook's clothing store displays garments in its window. Adjacent to it is A.M. Wright's establishment, its name lettered across the transom. Further along the block, a large painted facade reads "John A. Stock, Nation & Kennard, Cigar Manufacturers, Drugs." Howard's Photo Gallery occupies the upper floors of the leftmost building, its name painted vertically across two upper windows above the "Photo Gallery" sign. A horse-drawn wagon moves through the unpaved street at right, and several figures stand on the sidewalk in front of the Wright storefront. A ladder leans against the building midblock.
