Group of twenty-seven nineteenth century tintype photographs, most approximately CDV size, depicting a wide range of studio and outdoor portraits. The images include family groups, couples, children, young men, and several individuals in military dress. A number of the portraits appear to date to the Civil War period, including soldiers posed in uniform and young men wearing military caps and jackets.

Subjects include seated couples, parents with children, groups of siblings, young women in fashionable dresses, and several outdoor portraits taken against natural settings. One image shows a reclining infant, while others depict children posed on chairs, benches, and studio furniture. Several portraits retain the distinctive clipped corners common to tintypes originally mounted in paper CDV style mats.

The collection presents an appealing cross-section of mid-nineteenth century vernacular portrait photography, capturing everyday people in both formal studio settings and informal outdoor environments. The group includes a variety of compositions and photographic tones ranging from well-contrasted examples to darker or lightly worn images typical of period tintypes.

A diverse lot of early American portrait tintypes with strong representation of family imagery and potential Civil War era subjects.
