Six CDV size ferrotype portraits document an unidentified theatrical or carnival troupe photographed in costume across what appears to be a single studio session, likely in the 1880s based on costume style and image format. The group returns in varying combinations across all six images, suggesting these were made as personal keepsakes by the performers themselves. No photographer's imprint is visible on any of the tintypes.

Three distinct costumes recur throughout the group. The Pierrot figure wears the classic white ruffled clown suit with a large diamond motif on the chest and a pointed white cap, appearing in four of the six images. A woman in a dark bodice with harlequin-patterned skirt and bonnet appears in three images. A second woman in a white ruffled dress and white head covering appears in three images, standing or posed at the rear.

The six images progress from individual portraits to group compositions. The top row shows the white-dress woman standing alone, the Pierrot figure standing alone, and the dark-bodice woman seated. The bottom row shows the dark-bodice woman standing alone in her harlequin costume, then two group shots in which all three performers appear together with the Pierrot standing at center-left, the dark-bodice woman seated at center, and the white-dress woman standing behind. The same painted studio backdrop with ornate architectural elements and a patterned floor cloth appears consistently across all six images, confirming a single session.
