Albumen stereoview portrait of prominent 19th-century American poet, travel writer, and diplomat Bayard Taylor, photographed by Sarony, 680 Broadway, New York. The stereoscopic images show a close profile view of a bearded man wearing a large fur hat and heavy coat, posed against a plain studio background. The Sarony imprint appears printed along both edges of the mount.

The portrait reflects the carefully controlled lighting and dramatic profile compositions associated with late nineteenth century studio portraiture. Sarony’s Broadway studio produced numerous portraits of theatrical figures and public personalities as well as private sitters.

Yellow stereoview mount with square albumen prints and printed Sarony studio imprint along the margins. No title or identification is present.
