Helen Keller is shown at left among three women gathered around a table piled with donated goods at the annual Christmas sale for the blind held at 1 East 4th Street, New York, in this gelatin silver press print photographed by John DeBiase for the newspaper PM, published December 17, 1947. The photograph was distributed by Culver Pictures, Inc. and bears their stamp and loan terms on the reverse along with the original caption clipping.

Keller wears a dark coat with fur trim and a beaded hat and stands at the table touching folded textiles; the center figure holds a doll and wears a beret, and the woman at right in a dark dress and pearl necklace holds a small chair. A partially visible sign at right reads "Donations to the American Foundation for Overseas Blind / Helen Keller will officially receive your International gifts," and donated items including blankets, lace, knitted goods, and small toys cover the table and a large open carton in the foreground.

The caption clipping affixed to the reverse identifies the subjects as Helen Keller (left), Mrs. Blanche P. Gilman (center), and Miss Grace Harper (right), and notes that the gifts had been received by the American Foundation for Overseas Blind. Additional reverse markings include the PM/John DeBiase photographer stamp, the Culver Pictures Inc. imprint at 150 West 22nd Street New York, a "Used Dec 17 1947" stamp in red, and the catalog number 048063.
