The sitter is shown with a receding hairline and prominent side whiskers, wearing a dark coat, waistcoat, and cravat, posed in a straightforward studio style typical of the period.
The reverse includes a three-cent Internal Revenue stamp and the photographer’s imprint for B. L. H. Dabbs at the Clair Street address in Pittsburg.
