This carte de visite photograph shows a Union officer in uniform presented as a bust portrait against a plain studio background. The image is a standard CDV format, dating to circa 1863–1865. The mount bears the imprint of Henry E. Warren, Waltham, Massachusetts.

The sitter wears a dark military coat with shoulder straps indicating rank, along with a full beard, posed in a straightforward studio style typical of the Civil War era.

The reverse features an ornate printed design with an eagle and shield motif surrounding the imprint for H. E. Warren, Waltham, Mass., along with decorative scrollwork and printed text reading “Cartes de Visite.” Handwritten notations appear along the lower edge.
