Talbot Brothers, operating at number 89 on an unidentified Albany street, is documented in this albumen print by E.W. Cook, 394 Broadway, Albany, New York, the photographer's imprint appearing both in script on the face of the mount and in typeface on the reverse. Three figures pose at the entrance, one a young boy seated on a post at left and two men standing in the doorway. The building presents a richly lettered facade that documents a business combining picture frame manufacturing, news room, circulating library, and retail trade under one roof.

The ground floor facade is covered in signage across every available surface. A scalloped striped awning stretches the full width of the storefront, lettered across its valance with "Talbot Bros." and below with "News Room" and "Circulating Library." The address number 89 appears in panels flanking the awning. A large painted sign board above the second-floor windows reads "Talbot Bro's. Picture Frame Manufacturer" in bold block lettering. Both display windows are filled with merchandise, and a fire hydrant is visible at the lower right edge of the frame.

The reverse bears a typewritten imprint for E.W. Cook, 394 Broadway, Albany, N.Y., with blank fields for class and number and the instruction that parties ordering copies should give the letter as well as the number. The front mount carries the same address in script lettering along the lower border.
