Three Sac and Fox chiefs identified as Sac-a-Pee, Mo-less, and Wah-pal-e-cah are seated together in a studio portrait produced as an albumen print mounted to a large card, likely dating to the 1860s. The photograph bears the catalog number 689 in the lower left corner of the image, consistent with a numbered series common to government-related or commercial portrait studios of the period. No photographer's imprint is visible on the mount.

The center figure wears a dark wool coat with a white collar, layered gorget and trade silver ornaments across his chest, and striped leggings with decorated moccasins. The two flanking men wear light-colored trade cloth shirts, large circular medallions suspended at the chest, and matching fringed hide leggings and moccasins with visible beadwork or quillwork trim. All three are seated in studio chairs and hold a composed, forward-facing pose with hands rested in their laps.

The Sac and Fox Nation, whose members were forcibly relocated from the Great Lakes region to Kansas and later Indian Territory during the nineteenth century, maintained hereditary and elected leadership structures throughout this period. Delegations and prominent individuals were frequently photographed in Eastern studios as part of treaty negotiations and federal documentation efforts during the 1860s.

The reverse of the mount is unmarked. The front mount shows significant surface wear including tears at the upper right corner.
