Hillers of Southern Cheyenne warrior identified as Feathered Wolf stands in a full-length outdoor pose against a backdrop of layered flat-faced rocks and dappled foliage in this 7.5 X 9.5 inch albumen cabinet card photograph on 13 X15 inch mount. He is bare-chested and holds a long fringed hide item vertically in both hands, the fringe extending to the ground. The mount carries a geometric gilt border typical of Hiller's work.

Long hair falls past his shoulders in two sections, a small feather or ornament is visible at the crown, and a bracelet or cuff is worn on his left wrist. His gaze is directed slightly off camera to his left, and one foot rests on a low flat stone while the opposite knee is raised and rested against the rock formation behind him.

The Southern Cheyenne inhabited the southern plains of present-day Oklahoma and Kansas following the Medicine Lodge Treaty of 1867, and portraiture of individual warriors during the reservation period was undertaken by several regional photographers operating in Indian Territory and surrounding areas.
