Ten named individuals pose in two rows for this large-format albumen print titled "Band of Osage Indians" on the mount face, photographed by W. S. Prettyman of Arkansas City, Kansas, circa 1890. The group includes nine Osage men alongside Maj. W. A. Oliphant, identified by printed captions on the lower mount. The numbered key names Me-She-Sea, Wah-Tsa-Mole, Ed Big Horse, Thomas Mosier, Saucy-Chief, Wah-She-Pe-She, Gov. P. Hovey, Ne-Kah-Ko-La, and Clamore.

Seated figures wear a range of traditional and transitional dress: beaded bandolier bags, large gorget medals, striped leggings, and layered bead necklaces appear alongside a double-breasted suit coat on the central figure. Standing figures at the rear include men wearing feathered roach headdresses, a military-style kepi, and a prominent chevron-patterned blanket or sash. Several subjects are numbered directly on the photograph to correspond with the printed identification key below.

W. S. Prettyman was an active commercial photographer working in Arkansas City, Kansas, during the late 1880s and early 1890s, widely documented for his photographs made in Indian Territory during the land runs of that period. Maj. Oliphant's presence alongside Osage leaders suggests this image was made in an official or diplomatic context within the territory.

The mount face is printed: "Band of Osage Indians. Photographed by W. S. Prettyman, Arkansas City, Kans." with a ten-subject numbered key. The reverse bears a handwritten inscription: "Taken about 1890 in Indian Territory, from Adda Oliphant George, Addie Oliphant George, Petersburg, Ind., 1953," and a catalog notation "WST/1009." The photograph measures 10 by 12 inches.
