A granary building along the line of the Mexican Central Railway is recorded in this circular gelatin silver snapshot print. The image was produced circa 1889 to 1895 with a Kodak No. 2 camera, which generated the distinctive circular image format of approximately 3.5 inches in diameter. The print was mounted to a decorated card with an ornate gilt geometric and foliate pattern on the reverse. The subject caption is inscribed in ink on the front mount below the image.

The long, low building features plastered white-painted columns supporting a tiled roof, with an adjoining open colonnade at right and a long unplastered brick wall extending to the left; large burlap sacks are stacked against the facade at the entrance, and several figures in light clothing stand among them. Additional figures and a horse are visible beneath the colonnade, with open flat land extending to the horizon at right.

The Mexican Central Railway was incorporated in Massachusetts in 1880 and opened its main line in 1884, connecting Mexico City to Ciudad Juárez, becoming one of Mexico's primary pre-nationalization rail lines. Documentary photographs of railway infrastructure and agricultural facilities along the Mexican Central corridor from the early Kodak period are uncommon.

The front mount bears the handwritten ink caption "Granary, Line Mexican Central Ry." A penciled notation "40" appears on the reverse.
