Cabinet card photograph showing a Kansas jack rabbit posed in profile within a circular vignette landscape setting. The animal stands alert on grassy ground with tall ears raised and its body angled slightly toward the camera. The background depicts a softly rendered outdoor scene suggesting prairie vegetation.

The mount bears the imprint Glines, Hutchinson, Kansas, and the lower margin carries the handwritten caption “Kansas Jack Rabbit.” Such photographs were often produced by western studios to document local wildlife or curiosities associated with frontier regions. The jackrabbit, common to the plains of Kansas and surrounding states, was a distinctive and widely recognized animal of the American West.

The photograph is mounted on a standard cabinet card with rounded corners and a circular image format typical of the period. Wildlife cabinet cards from small western towns are comparatively uncommon and reflect the regional character and natural history interests of late nineteenth century frontier photography.
