Group of twelve mid-19th century cased photographic portraits consisting of tintypes and ambrotypes, each housed in original hinged cases with gilt mats and red velvet interior pads. The portraits depict men, women, children, and small family groups posed in typical studio settings of the Civil War era.

Subjects appear in period clothing including dresses with fitted bodices, men’s coats and waistcoats, and children’s outfits. Several images show paired sitters or small family groupings, while others are individual portrait studies. The cases display a variety of embossed velvet pad designs and decorative gilt mat openings characteristic of American cased photography of the 1850s–1870s.

All images remain preserved in their original protective cases with intact hinges and interior liners. The group offers a representative selection of cased tintype and ambrotype portraits for collectors of nineteenth-century photographic material.
