Four Victorian-era CDV albums are offered together as a single lot, two holding substantial portrait collections and two largely unfilled. The albums present a varied range of leather covers: one in deep crimson with gilt-lettered "Album" spines and ornate embossed scrollwork, one in dark brown with a central medallion spine panel, one in a similar brown with matching embossed decoration, and a fourth in warm brown with horizontal banded gilt tooling and "Photographs" lettered on the spine. All four close with brass clasp hardware, and the page edges are gilt throughout.

The filled albums contain a mix of CDVs and tintypes housed in arched album windows with gilt-ruled borders and red accent ovals on select pages. Subjects include men in dark frock coats, women in full-skirted dresses with ribbon trim and white collars, a seated couple, young children in white garments, and one bust-length CDV portrait with hand-applied red coloring on the lips. A small gem tintype of a young man occupies an oversized window mat in one album, paired with a hand-colored CDV of a woman in a dark dress with a pink hair ribbon.

Collectively the albums represent a well-preserved cross-section of American portrait photography from the 1860s through the 1870s, when CDV albums became standard fixtures in middle-class parlors and were routinely filled with both commercial card portraits and studio tintypes alongside family likenesses.
