A young girl is the subject of this sixth-plate daguerreotype, presented in a full case with a gilt brass mat and preserver. The image is notably clear, with strong tonal definition across the full-length seated composition. No photographer's imprint is visible, and the subject remains unidentified. Styling and case construction are consistent with American daguerreotype production of the late 1840s to mid-1850s.

The girl sits in a patterned upholstered chair draped with a heavily textured floral fabric, her hands resting in her lap. She wears a light-colored short-sleeved dress with a fine allover print and lace-trimmed cuffs, with a dark ribbon or collar at the neckline. Her dark hair is center-parted and worn close to the head, and she holds a small cluster of leaves or flowers at her right side.

The case is a standard leather case with an embossed scrollwork and floral medallion design on the exterior. The interior preserves a deep burgundy embossed velvet pad opposite the image, and the gilt mat surrounding the plate features a repeating rope-and-leaf border pattern.
