A wicker and rattan sewing or work stand is photographed as a product document in this CDV by Watson & Brummit's New Gallery, 164 Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, the third in a series of furniture product cards from the same studio and commercial commission. The object's elaborate construction and the careful studio isolation confirm this as a catalog photograph intended to document the piece for retail or trade purposes.

The stand consists of a covered wicker basket or work bowl at the top supported by an open ornamental framework of bent rattan, the basket fitted with a domed lid and surrounded by a decorative gallery of twisted cane columns. The mid-section narrows to a wrapped waist before expanding into a wide splayed base with curved legs terminating in small circular feet or casters, with an additional lower storage basket suspended between the legs. The construction combines tightly woven cane panels with open twisted rattan framework throughout, creating an intricate visual texture across all levels of the piece.

As the third card in this Watson & Brummit furniture series, this example further confirms that the studio was engaged by a wicker furniture manufacturer or retailer to produce a systematic photographic catalog of their product line, an early and documented application of commercial product photography in the CDV format.

The reverse bears the printed imprint of Watson & Brummit's New Gallery, 164 Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, with the notation "Entrance in the Store," and penciled notations reading "No 15," "12.00," and additional figures.
