Eugène Delacroix (1798–1863) was one of the leading figures of the French Romantic movement and is best known for dramatic historical and literary compositions including Liberty Leading the People.
Mount verso bears the red stamp imprint for Nadar, 35 Boulevard des Capucines, Paris. The verso also includes manuscript identification reading "E. Delacroix peintre."
