Hand-colored albumen carte de visite numbered 2788 depicting a Neapolitan street musician playing a zampogna (a bagpipe found in mountainous regions across Central and Southern Italy) while presenting two small marionette figures mounted on a wooden base. The performer faces forward, wearing a soft cap tinted magenta, loose jacket and trousers, and a striped apron with applied blue color. The two articulated puppet figures, one in yellow with a blue cap and the other in a pink dress, stand connected by string to a simple upright post.

Verso bears the purple medal backmark of Georges Sommer, Photographe, Naples, with exhibition medallions and studio addresses. Pencil inventory notations to lower margin.
