The photograph was produced by the noted New York theatrical photographer Charles Eisenmann, whose Bowery studio specialized in photographing sideshow and curiosity performers.

The reverse bears the printed imprint “Chas. Eisenmann, Photographer, 229 Bowery, New York.” A manuscript note on the reverse reads “Chauncey Morlan, Age 12, Weight 382.”
