Cyanotype photograph depicting a seated man in a furnished domestic parlor interior. The image is rendered in the characteristic deep blue tones of the cyanotype process. The man sits in a cushioned armchair wearing a dark suit and holds an object in his hands while facing slightly toward the camera. Behind him the room contains a variety of household furnishings including a wooden cabinet, framed pictures on the wall, patterned wallpaper, and a shelf displaying a clock and decorative objects.

Additional details include a small framed photograph displayed on a cabinet, floral arrangements, and a wall-mounted decorative mask or plaque positioned above the cabinet. Curtains hang beside a doorway leading into an adjoining room, and a patterned rug covers the floor.

The photograph is mounted on a card printed “Neerdland – Sanville, L.I.” along the edge of the mount. Cyanotype prints were occasionally used for amateur or artistic photography in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries due to the simplicity of the printing process and its distinctive blue coloration. The reverse is blank aside from pencil notation.
