A group of eight albumen boudoir card photographs documenting the mountains, lakes, and glaciers of the Glacier region of Montana, produced in 1888 by Charles S. Francis, identified in Montana Historical Society records as Charles Spencer Francis (1853–1911). The views depict a range of subjects across the region, from snow-capped peaks and forested slopes to still alpine lakes framed by rugged ridgelines. At least one card carries a printed imprint on the reverse identifying Francis as the photographer and dating the exposure to 1888, placing the series among the earliest systematic photographic surveys of this landscape, made more than two decades before Glacier National Park was established in 1910.

The subjects visible across the group include a broad snow-streaked mountain massif rising above a flat valley floor, a dark alpine lake with dense conifer forest along its near shore and peaks receding into a pale sky, a sharply peaked summit flanked by a secondary ridge with open scree slopes below, a boulder-strewn snow-covered creek bed with tall conifers above, and a forested valley with a prominent cliff face rising to the right. The mounts vary between cream-stock cards with plain borders and at least one card on dark-toned board stock. One card shows a horizontal crease across the upper image area.

Charles S. Francis is recorded in the Montana Historical Society's photographer index as Charles Spencer Francis, 1853–1911. His 1888 fieldwork in the Glacier region predates both the Great Northern Railway's promotion of the area and the formal establishment of the park, situating this group within the earliest documentary photographic record of the landscape.

Reverses bear handwritten inscriptions in pencil and ink, including: "Young Mt. Sheep, Photo Taken at Cut Bank Johns" (Young Mountain Sheep, photo taken at Cut Bank Johns); "Monroes Peak, G's Glacier / bright" (Monroe's Peak, G's Glacier, bright); "West Point of Red Eagle Mt. Francis, 1888 / St. Mary's Lake" (printed imprint with handwritten subject).
