A horse drawn combined header and thresher, stenciled BENICIA and HARVEST KING, is the subject of this pair of albumen boudoir cards, each taken in the working yard of a California agricultural implement manufacturer. No photographer's imprint appears on either mount. The two views were captured from differing vantage points within moments of one another, documenting the same rig and crew in the manufacturer's yard.

One card shows a six horse hitch harnessed before the machine, with three workmen on the platform and header, one holding the reins. The companion view adds a grain wagon lettered BENICIA HARVEST KING and workmen posed atop the thresher against a brick building with a corbelled cornice and arched windows.

The BENICIA stencil ties the rig to Benicia Agricultural Works, the name adopted in Benicia, California by the firm formerly known as Banker and Hamilton once it turned to plow and implement manufacturing. At its peak the firm employed roughly 400 workers and shipped implements worldwide before Midwestern competition led to its 1914 sale to the Yuba Manufacturing Company.
