Group of twenty-seven nineteenth century tintype photographs, most approximately CDV size, depicting a range of studio portraits including women, children, couples, and small family groups. The images include seated and standing figures posed against painted studio backdrops, with several portraits showing children arranged in pairs or small sibling groups.

Subjects include young boys and girls in formal clothing, women seated beside studio tables or chairs, and couples posed together in traditional Victorian portrait style. A number of the photographs show children seated on stools or upholstered studio props, while others depict women and men wearing hats and fashionable clothing of the mid to late nineteenth century. Several of the plates retain clipped corners typical of tintypes originally placed in paper CDV-style mats.

The lot also includes tonal variations common to tintype photography, including darker exposures and examples with warm brown or reddish surface tones. Overall the collection provides a representative cross-section of vernacular nineteenth-century portrait photography, documenting families and individuals during the Civil War era and later Victorian period.

An appealing mixed lot of early American tintypes with strong representation of women’s portraits, children, and family imagery.
