Cleveland, Ohio during the mid-1930s. Four stereo pairs are mounted on black stereograph mounts with typed captions on the reverse identifying the views.
The mounts read “Great Lakes Expo, Cleveland, Ohio” and identify the blimps “Resolute” and “Puritan.” The photographs were taken by Rudolph Snayder, with dates including September 5, 1936; October 3, 1936; and July 3, 1937.
The images show the Goodyear blimp in flight above exposition grounds and city buildings as well as views of the airship hovering low over crowds gathered along waterfront promenades. One image captures the blimp passing over a large exhibition building while spectators watch from below.
An additional Keystone View Company stereograph depicting a Goodyear blimp flying above a fairground boulevard accompanies the group. The collection documents the prominent role of Goodyear’s airships in promotional and exhibition flights during the Cleveland exposition.
