Cabinet card photograph depicting four extremely tall men identified as the Texas Giants, the Shields Brothers, shown standing together in a studio interior. The men wear formal late nineteenth-century attire including long coats, waistcoats, and tall top hats. They stand closely grouped with arms resting across each other’s shoulders in a posed portrait arrangement.

The photograph is a trimmed version of one of the the well-known Shields Brothers promotional portrait, with the lower margin that normally contains the printed title and height identifications removed. The men’s unusual stature is evident in the elongated proportions and presentation typical of promotional photographs of unusually tall performers exhibited in traveling shows and dime museums during the period.

The reverse bears the studio imprint “Eischmann, The Popular Photographer, 223 Bowery, N.Y.” Cabinet card format, trimmed at the lower edge with photographer’s trade imprint on the reverse.
