The Treasury Building in Washington, D.C. is the subject of this albumen stereoview, published by E. & H. T. Anthony as part of their "Stereoscopic Views in Washington City, D.C." series. E. & H. T. Anthony, operating from 501 Broadway in New York, was among the most prolific American publishers of stereoscopic views during the mid-to-late nineteenth century, and their Washington series documented federal architecture during a period of significant national expansion.

The view captures the building's long colonnaded facade from a slight angle, revealing a continuous row of Ionic columns running the full length of the structure, a balustraded roofline, multiple chimneys, and a tall flagpole with a diagonal lightning rod extending from it. Young trees with circular wrought-iron guards line the foreground fence, and an unpaved, rutted ground plane stretches toward the camera.

The Greek Revival Treasury Building was designed by Robert Mills and completed in stages between 1836 and 1869, making its columned east wing one of the most recognized federal landmarks of the era.

The reverse label reads: "E. & H. T. Anthony's Stereoscopic Views in Washington City, D.C., No. 1319, The Treasury Buildings, Published by E. & H. T. Anthony, American and Foreign Stereoscopic Emporium, 501 Broadway, New-York." The number 1319 also appears printed at the bottom center of the front image, and the handwritten notation "No. 155" appears in red ink on the left edge of the mount.
