A seated Chinese woman wearing traditional dress with bound feet resting on a low stool is depicted in this stereoview, published by Underwood & Underwood in 1900. The studio setting includes carved wooden furniture, a decorative floor covering, draped fabric, and an artificial tree prop with blossoms.

Foot binding was a practice observed across certain social classes in China for approximately nine centuries before its gradual abolition in the early twentieth century.

The printed caption reads in full: "A 'Lily Footed' Woman of China — this outrage against Nature has been in vogue 900 years." The caption is repeated on the reverse in French, German, Spanish, Swedish, and Russian. Publisher imprints appear on both vertical margins: Underwood & Underwood, Publishers, New York, London, Toronto-Canada, Ottawa-Kansas, and Nortes and Underwood Studios, Arlington, Tennessee; Littleton, New Hampshire; Washington, D.C. Copyright 1900 by Underwood & Underwood is printed below the image.
