Sixth plate daguerreotype of a solemn man in formal attire, believed to be affiliated with a Masonic or other fraternal order. He wears a boldly hand-colored sash or stole, elaborately painted in pale blue with red and black rosettes and trimmed in scarlet at the base. The symbol-laden garment rests across his shoulders and cascades down over a thick fringed apron, likely emblematic of his order.

His left hand confidently rests atop an oversized book, possibly a Bible or ritual volume, its edge and pages clearly visible. The sitter gazes with penetrating clarity, illuminated by soft daguerreian light that enhances the contrast between his attire and the dark studio backdrop. Housed in its original mat and floral-pattered brass preserver, without case. A powerful image of 19th-century fraternal dignity and visual ceremony.
