George Bernard Shaw and Lady Nancy Astor are shown seated at center among a large group of Soviet and international figures during their visit to Moscow in this gelatin silver press print issued by International Newsreel Photo, dated August 7, 1931. The image was received by the Examiner Reference Library on August 18, 1931, and the caption identifies the key subjects by name and position. Shaw, the oldest and most visually distinctive figure, sits fourth from left in the front row with a full white beard and no tie, which the caption specifically notes.

Lady Astor in a polka-dot dress and cloche hat sits at center with a folded fan in her lap; to her left sits A.V.B. Lunatcharsky, former Government Building Commissioner, and to his left is Karl Radek, identified as a noted Communist journalist. At far right in the front row sits Comrade Akhalatov of the State Diplomatic Corps. Framed architectural drawings or photographs line the wall behind the group, and numerous additional figures stand in the back row.

The caption identifies back row figures including Lydia Seifallina, described as a brilliant Hungarian writer, Bela Illes, another noted writer, and Vsevolod Ivanov wearing the diagonally striped tie, also identified as a prominent writer. The caption headline reads "A Notable Group in Happy Mood on Visit to the Soviet."
