A group of thirteen named individuals, including Flathead and Kootenay chiefs, their wives, a sub-agent, and an interpreter, stands before a tipi in this real photo postcard dating to the early twentieth century. The inscription on the reverse identifies the subjects with enough specificity to place this among the more historically significant examples of Native American documentary photography from the Northern Rockies region. No photographer's imprint is visible on the reverse.

The men wear wide-brimmed hats throughout, with several figures wrapped in blankets or trade cloth robes over Western-style suits and shirts. One elder at center-left holds a striped blanket across his body, and beaded adornment is visible at his neckline. Two women appear at the left, both wrapped in plaid trade blankets, while a man in a suit and tie positioned slightly behind the group is identified as Karl Knudsen, Sub Agent.

Named subjects on the reverse include Chief Antiste and his wife Gosette Antiste, Chief Pati-Kai (identified as Flathead chief), Chief Isaac Koo-tha-tha (identified as Kootenay), Martin Michell, Charlie Michell, Pete Magpie, Paul Lefthand, and John Finley listed as interpreter, along with John Couture.
