A young man identified in the reverse inscription as Fred poses astride an early Indian motorcycle in this sharp real photo postcard, dating to approximately 1910 to 1915 based on the divided-back postcard format and the early single-cylinder Indian design visible in the image. The photographer is unidentified, and no studio imprint appears on the reverse. The "Indian" script nameplate is clearly legible on the tank, placing the machine firmly within the Springfield, Massachusetts manufacturer's early production era.

Fred wears a sack suit with jodhpur-style riding breeches, lace-up boots reaching the mid-calf, and a flat newsboy cap pushed forward on his head. His hands grip the handlebars with a large brass bulb horn mounted to the left bar, a carbide headlamp fitted to the front fork, and a rear luggage carrier visible behind the saddle. He turns his head directly toward the camera with a composed, alert expression.

Indian Motorcycle Company, founded in Springfield in 1901 by George Hendee and Oscar Hedstrom, was among the earliest and most competitive American motorcycle manufacturers, producing the single-cylinder loop-frame models seen here through the early 1910s.

The reverse reads in pencil: "Tell Fred not to look it so hard," signed "Bill," printed on an Artura brand postcard stock with the divided-back layout.
