Unusual quarter plate leather daguerreotype case featuring an embossed patriotic eagle motif on the front cover, bearing a federal shield and flanked by spread wings and outstretched ribbons. The fine grained surface and detailed tooling around the edges are complemented by a decorative gold-stamped spine and a working brass clasp. The reverse panel is plain, emphasizing the central eagle emblem and period craftsmanship.

Interior features a deep burgundy velvet pad with a gilt floral border, while the opposite side retains only partial interior structure and backing, ideal for restoration or display. Leather quarter plate cases are significantly less common than thermoplastic counterparts, and those with nationalistic imagery such as this example are highly sought after. A seldom-seen survivor from the daguerreian period, perfect for collectors of early American photographic housing.
