Quarter plate tintype depicting an elaborate funeral floral arrangement composed of densely packed blossoms and foliage, arranged into tall and circular forms. At the center of the display is a small mounted photographic portrait of a young man, incorporated directly into the floral construction, indicating a memorial or funeral context. Several small blank cards are visible within the arrangement, likely intended for dedication messages, though no legible text is present.

The photograph appears to have been taken indoors against a plain studio or interior backdrop, with the floral sculpture positioned on a draped surface. The inclusion of the portrait within the wreath is consistent with late nineteenth-century mourning practices, in which photographic likenesses were integrated into funeral and memorial displays.

A strong example of vernacular mourning photography, documenting both floral craft traditions and the use of photographic portraiture within funerary ritual. No photographer’s imprint visible.
