A specialized collector's album devoted entirely to the international art of the marionette and puppet theater, housing more than sixty postcards, press prints, and related ephemera spanning several decades and multiple continents, all organized in clear plastic sleeve pages within a ring binder. The cards range from early printed views to mid-century photographic issues, with subjects drawn from Belgium, Austria, England, France, Italy, and the United States, forming a survey of puppet theater culture from its traditional folk origins through its postwar revival.

Among the most historically significant cards are several Belgian issues bearing printed captions identifying the subjects as Tchantchès and Nanesse, the iconic rod-marionettes of the Outremeuse district of Liège whose characters emerged in popular working-class theaters in the nineteenth century. Tchantchès is recognized by his distinctive checkered black-and-white trousers, blue work smock, red polka-dotted scarf, and black cap. The Austrian material centers on the Salzburger Marionettentheater, with multiple real-photo postcards showing costumed figures in operatic productions, several bearing the theater's own imprint on the reverse. The English contingent is anchored by a substantial run of Lanchester Marionettes cards, including productions identified on the reverses as "Shakes versus Shav" and "L'Amfiparnaso." George Bernard Shaw's final play, Shakes versus Shav, was written expressly for the Lanchester Marionettes in 1949. American material includes cards from Otto Kunze Marionette Productions of Brooklyn, Proctor Puppets, Victor Charles McEvoy Puppets, Ted Gauthier, and Bil Baird, among others.

The Lanchester Marionettes operated the only theatre in England used exclusively for marionettes, and at the 1937 World's Fair in Paris the company became the first British presence on French television, and in 1938 they performed before Queen Elizabeth and the two princesses at Buckingham Palace. The Belgian Tchantchès tradition represented by the Liège cards traces to the Outremeuse quarter, where Tchantchès is the central figure of Liège folklore, a marionette of popular theater that emerged in the nineteenth century.

The album also includes postcards from the Musée de la Vie Wallonne in Liège with archival reproduction stamps on the reverse, cards bearing the Cartes Postales Documentaires stamp of collector Hessenbruch, a signed card inscribed in blue ink noting autographic origin from the Théâtre des marionnettes dated 15-2-65 and addressed to Mademoiselle Martine Jutillange, 9 rue Popincourt, Paris XIe, and an Agenzia Giornalistica Italia copyright press print with Italian-language caption text on the reverse.
