A double-cased set contains two significant and poignant daguerreotypes. On the left side, the image features a post-mortem portrait of a young child, peacefully lying in repose. On the right, there is a family portrait showing what is likely the parents and an older sibling of the deceased child.

The image on the left shows a young child who has passed away, swaddled and resting on a pillow. The child's serene expression and the careful composition suggest an effort to capture the child's likeness in a peaceful and respectful manner. Post-mortem photography was a common practice during the 19th century, often serving as the only visual remembrance of a loved one.

The right side depicts a family of three, presumably the parents and older sibling of the deceased child. The family members are dressed formally, and their expressions are somber, reflecting the gravity of the moment. The family is posed close together, symbolizing unity and shared grief.
