The mount carries no photographer's imprint, and no studio identification is present on either face or reverse. The interior photograph captures a prosperous establishment at full operation, making it an exceptional document of late Victorian commercial life.

Each barber wears a white jacket over dark trousers, and the clients are draped in full white shaving cloths across ornate cast-iron barber chairs. A long mirror runs the length of the back wall above a counter lined with bottles, jars, and grooming implements, while the ceiling displays elaborate decorative molding and valanced fabric borders. A chandelier with multiple curved arms and glass globe shades dominates the center of the room, and a patterned mosaic tile floor extends across the foreground.

The scale and decoration of the shop, with its mirrored back bar, embossed ceiling, and multiple service stations, suggest a first-class hotel or downtown commercial barbershop of the Gilded Age, a period when such establishments served as social anchors for business districts across American cities.

The reverse bears a pencil inscription reading "Duplicate Entire." The photograph measures 9 by 11 inches.
