Albumen cabinet card depicting the Montana Silver Statue, copyrighted in 1892 by sculptor R. H. Park. The image depicts a full-length figure, modeled after actress Ada Rehan, noted on the mount as standing nine feet high and containing $64,800 worth of pure silver. Titled "Statue of Justice" made from native Montana silver, the sculpture was featured at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and later displayed in New York in late 1893. Tragically, the statue was melted down for bullion in 1903.
Issued by Sarony, 37 Union Square, New York, the cabinet card reflects the studio’s commercial documentation of major fair and exposition works during the period. Light overall toning and spotting to the print; mount with expected handling wear.
