Mark Twain was the pen name of Samuel L. Clemens (1835 to 1910), the American author and humorist best known for works including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in American literature.
The mount bears Keystone View Company publisher imprint along the sides reading “Meadville, Pa., New York, N.Y., Chicago, Ill., London, England.” The reverse contains a printed biographical text headed “Mark Twain, Samuel L. Clemens, The United States’ Most Famous Humorist.”
