We are pleased to announce our next auction, featuring approximately 200 individual lots drawn from a diverse and compelling range of 19th- and early 20th-century photography. This sale focuses on vernacular images, photographs created not as formal studio portraits or elite commissions, but as direct, unscripted records of lived experience. These are objects made by and for everyday people, preserving moments of intimacy, labor, travel, performance, identity, and loss.

Powerful original 4 X 5 1/2 cabinet photograph on 6 X 8 mount of the legendary Apache leader Geronimo standing outdoors in full traditional regalia, wearing a dramatic feathered headdress, loincloth, and leggings, posed against a natural backdrop of tall grass and trees. The image captures Geronimo in his later years, embodying a commanding presence that transcends age and circumstance. His stoic expression and stance reflect both dignity and endurance, while the elaborate headdress signals his status and ceremonial importance. The photograph is mounted on an embossed studio card with the imprint of “The Logston Studio, 406 5th St., Lawton, Okla.” on the verso. Taken in Indian Territory shortly before Oklahoma statehood, this striking portrait reflects both a deliberate act of self-representation by Geronimo and the commercial interest in photographing Native leaders for Anglo-American audiences. Scarce and historically significant.
