Attractive group of four late 19th-century cabinet cards depicting young Texans in various military or cadet-style uniforms, each photographed in Texas studios. The men are shown in formal poses, each proudly wearing tailored uniforms with ornate buttons, high collars, and shoulder straps—two of the cards featuring clearly defined insignia and headgear.
Each image was produced by a different regional Texas studio: Lindstedt of Greenville and Cleburne; H.R. Marks in Austin; Nichols in Industry; and McNair in Bryan. These photographers were well-established portraitists active during the 1880s–1890s. Two of the subjects are identified in period pencil on the reverse as “Hans Spitz” and “Williams in uniform,” providing valuable genealogical or research leads.
