Lot of four albumen carte de visite photographs dating circa 1860s to 1880s, each depicting sitters posed with photographic albums or mounted images. One shows a family group of three seated at a table with an open photograph album and loose cartes visible. Another depicts a young child seated beside a framed oval photograph displayed on a table. A third shows a seated woman holding a small photograph album in her lap. The fourth portrays a young boy seated on an upholstered chair holding an open album or mounted photograph.
Photographer imprints are present on three mounts. One reads A. O. D. Waterworth, Muskegon, Mich., with printed text noting pictures enlarged and finished in India ink, oil, or water colors. Another reads Gallery of Art, M. W. Burns, 116 Kelsey Street, Eau Claire, Wis., opposite Post Office, with advertising for enlarging old pictures. One mount is printed Pease Brothers, Lee, Mass., and West Cornwall, Conn. The fourth bears a blue circular stamp for A. Kindermann, Maler & Photograph, Hamburg, St. Georg Beckmannstrasse No. 33.
Mounts feature printed studio advertising and decorative typography. Several versos include penciled inventory numbers and dates.
