Group of four carte de visite portraits depicting the French artist and illustrator Gustave Doré (1833–1883), shown in studio settings in both profile and seated poses. Albumen prints on standard CDV mounts, dating circa 1860s–1870s. Doré was one of the most celebrated illustrators of the 19th century, known for his engravings for works including Dante’s Divine Comedy and Cervantes’ Don Quixote.
The group includes examples by Fairless & Beeforth of the Doré Gallery, London, and Mora, 680 Broadway, New York, along with two additional portraits. Several mounts bear contemporary or later pencil identifications reading “Gustave Doré,” including one dated September 1878.
Unmounted backs include photographer imprints and collector notations identifying the sitter. Offered as a single lot.
