Eight carte de visite (CDV) photographs of notable Civil War generals, carefully preserved and each carrying a unique historical significance. Produced by the renowned E. & H.T. Anthony from Brady’s National Portrait Gallery, these images capture the military leaders in studio settings, wearing formal uniforms and various rank insignias, evoking the spirit of mid-19th-century American history. Identifications on the reverse side include famous figures such as General George B. McClellan, Admiral Farragut, and Ambrose Burnside, among others, offering a window into the key players of the Union army. Many of the CDVs have handwritten notations and annotations on the reverse, reflecting the identities and accolades of these figures.
