Sixth plate daguerreotype studio portraits of a man and woman, presented as a matching pair in a double case. Each sitter is posed beside an ornate classical urn placed on a pedestal, a recurring studio prop seen in mid-19th-century daguerreian portraiture. The man wears a dark coat, waistcoat, and high-collared shirt with cravat, seated with one arm resting near the urn. The woman is dressed in a dark gown with a light lace collar secured by a brooch, her hands composed around a small book while seated beside the same sculptural prop. Both portraits display direct, steady gazes and formal studio posture consistent with the 1850s.

The urn appears as a shared visual motif across both images, functioning as a symbolic and compositional element rather than an identifiable studio mark. Such neoclassical props were commonly used to convey refinement and permanence, though no photographer’s imprint or attribution is visible on either plate. The consistent quality and careful posing reflect established studio practice rather than individual authorship.

The daguerreotypes are housed together in a period double hinged case with gilt brass mats and deep blue paper or fabric liners surrounding the openings. The interior pad retains its original velvet, and the exterior case features embossed decorative leather. No handwritten identifications or inscriptions are visible on the plates or case.
