Remarkable early 5 X 7 silver print on 7 X9 mount documenting the Chihuahua Mine in New Mexico, annotated in the negative by the photographer Leopold and dated 1906. The image captures the full industrial landscape of the operation from an elevated vantage point, showing the complete infrastructure of the mine in detailed clarity. Each component of the site has been meticulously labeled in the negative, including the carpenter shop, blacksmith shop, boarding house, assay office, concrete gin and coolers, and a large stockpile of cordwood stacked neatly in the foreground.

Workers and machinery are visible across the site, reinforcing the scale and activity of the mining operation at the time. Water tanks and ore bins are also noted in the annotations, with arrows pointing to their positions. The photograph is an exceptional example of early industrial documentary photography in the American West and offers a rare look at the internal logistics and layout of a functioning ore mine in the New Mexico Territory during the early 20th century. Likely used for technical or promotional purposes, the image also serves as a primary source for researchers interested in regional mining history, photographic practices, or annotated documentary images from this era.
