Incredibly sharp and well-preserved advertising CDV for the “One-Price Store,” located at 22 Front Street in Owego, New York, and operated by W.P. Stone and E.S. Buckbee. The photographic print features both proprietors in a clean bust-length portrait, surrounded by elaborate typography and marketing slogans for their dry goods business.
Printed directly onto the mount, the advertisement reads:
"Dealers in Dry Goods, Carpets, and Choice Millinery. Splendid Assortment. Prices Reduced. We Invite a Call.” The verso expands with additional promotional language and a lengthy list of available items ranging from table linens and hosiery to damask and oil cloths. It also includes a printed box advertisement for Coburn’s New Gallery, suggesting the photo work may have been contracted through a local studio partner.
A rare dual-purpose CDV that combines portrait photography with Victorian-era commercial advertising in a striking and unusually elaborate design.
