Carte de visite portrait of a woman with very light hair and complexion consistent with albinism, shown in close-up studio portrait wearing a necklace and draped garment. Albino portraits were part of the classif 19th century oddity genre.
The mount bears the imprint “C. D. Fredricks & Co., New York.” Fredricks operated one of the most prominent photographic studios in New York during the mid-nineteenth century.
